per person
Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain at 5,895 meters, offers one of the world’s greatest trekking achievements. Rising from cultivated foothills through dense rainforest, moorlands, alpine desert, and finally into a glacier-crowned summit, Kilimanjaro is a journey through changing worlds.
The Machame Route is the most scenic and one of the most successful routes on the mountain. This specially designed 8-day climbing program adds an extra acclimatization night at Karanga, allowing the body more time to adapt to altitude before summit night. The result is a safer, more enjoyable climb with an excellent summit success rate.
This package is ideal for climbers who prefer a gradual ascent and maximum chance of reaching Uhuru Peak comfortably.
The 8 Days Machame Route is actually the premium and most comfortable acclimatization version, giving climbers an additional night on the mountain for better altitude adjustment, less fatigue, and the highest summit success probability.
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our mountain representative welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel in Moshi.
In the evening or the next morning, meet your chief mountain guide for:
Overnight Hotel in Moshi/Arusha on a Bed & Breakfast basis.
After breakfast, depart for Machame Gate, where registration formalities are completed with Kilimanjaro National Park.
Begin trekking through lush rainforest rich with giant trees, hanging mosses, tropical birdlife, and occasional monkeys. The trail climbs steadily through a cool and misty forest before reaching Machame Camp.
Today, the vegetation changes dramatically as you leave the rainforest and enter the heather and moorland zone.
The route ascends over volcanic ridges with wide open views, and the white summit cone of Kibo begins to reveal itself.
Arrive at beautiful Shira Camp on the famous Shira Plateau.
A vital acclimatization day.
Climb slowly across the alpine desert toward Lava Tower, where lunch is served at high altitude (4’630m/15’190ft)
After spending time at 4,630 meters, descend to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy allows the body to acclimatize effectively.
After breakfast, tackle the spectacular Barranco Wall, one of the most exciting sections of the route. Though steep, it is a non-technical scramble guided carefully by the mountain crew.
Continue through scenic ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp.
This is a shorter day intended for gradual altitude adaptation.
Today is the advantage that makes this itinerary superior.
After breakfast, enjoy a slow acclimatization hike up toward the higher slopes of the Barafu section (4’300m/14’108ft) before returning to Karanga Camp for a hot lunch and rest (13’238ft).
This extra day allows:
After a rested breakfast continue to Barafu Camp, the final base camp before summit attempt.
The trail becomes steeper and more barren as you move into Kilimanjaro’s harsh alpine zone (4680m/15’354ft).
Arrive by early afternoon. After lunch, guides conduct summit briefing and health assessment.
Dinner is served early, followed by a few hours sleep.
Wake up around midnight for the summit ascent.
Using headlamps, slowly climb through the dark volcanic slopes toward Stella Point and onward to Uhuru Peak (5895m/19’341ft).
Reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise is the emotional climax of the expedition — standing above the clouds on the highest point in Africa.
After photos, descend to Barafu Camp for brunch and continue downward to Mweka Camp for overnight.
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.
Receive summit certificates, celebrate with your mountain crews, and transfer back to the Moshi hotel for an overnight stay and a hot shower.
